(KANSAS CITY, Ks.) — Members of the Kansas City Board of Public Utilities (BPU) elected new officers to the Board. The officer team includes: Robert Milan, SR, President; Mary Gonzales, Vice President; Rose Mulvany Henry, Secretary.
Mr. Milan has served on the BPU Board for over 25 years, having been first elected in 1991. In 2007, BPU recognized Mr. Milan’s dedication to the utility by naming a new Water Division facility in his honor, the Robert L. Milan, Sr. Pump Station and Reservoir.
Bob worked at the U.S. Department of Labor for 32 years, retiring as a Federal Representative. He is active in the Northeast Optimist Club and NAACP. In 2001, he served as State President of AARP. In 2010, the Directors of the Heritage Registry of Who’s Who announced the inclusion of Mr. Milan. He has received many awards including being selected by the Kansas City Globe as one of the 100 most influential people in 1998.
A native of Kansas City, Kansas, he owned Milan’s Roller Arena and Bowling establishment for many years.
Other elected officers are Mary Gonzales, Vice President and Rose Mulvany Henry, Secretary. Gonzales has served on the Board since 2001. Henry has served on the Board since 2019. Both Gonzales and Henry will work closely with Milan as part of the officer team.
